holidays are about traditions. whether enjoying time tested ones or building new ones, we seem to revel in the familiarity and anticipation of our family clockwork during the holidays. perhaps it’s the green bean casserole or maybe the ugly sweater that makes your holiday “yours”. whatever it is, you know that it wouldn’t be the holidays without it.
of all the traditions in my family, my favorite is the time i spend with my mother the week before thanksgiving. she leaves the most beautiful city in the world (pittsburgh) and spends 5 glorious days with us to fluff bows, string lights, raid target and loose miserably at uno. i treasure every moment. when she leaves us, i have new memories for years to come and a spotless house. jeesh the woman can CLEAN!! we are officially ready for baking, eating, laughter, gift giving and the rest of the insanity that we call the holidays. well, not completely official…
at least we got rid of the fall wreath.
i love you, mom!! thank you for everything. i miss you already. why don’t you come back tomorrow and help me hang the wreath. it could take us days you know;)))
